Heavy rain will ease to showers across much of the country today

Over 180 millimetres of rain has fallen over Mount Taranaki in the past 24 hours, with 90 millimetres over the Kahurangi ranges.

Northland had 10 to 15 millimetres of rain overnight.

But the top of the South Island has seen heavy rain, which is continuing over Marlborough this morning.
