    People in the northern North Island are being urged to batten down the hatches, because of severe weather


    MetService has issued a heavy rain warning for Northland and the Coromandel Peninsula.

    Meteorologist Tom Adams says strong winds are also expected for other parts of the country

    Mr Adams says the strong winds are set to hit overnight tonight through until tomorrow, in Northland, Auckland, Coromandel and northern Waikato.
