Outgoing board chair of Helensville Primary Daniel Wood, says the board's been under considerable pressure and members find the time commitment required no longer tenable.
He says Limited Statutory Manager, Terry Bates, has had positive relationships with the principal, senior leadership team and teachers since he started late last year, which made the decision easier.
Bates is now commissioner and intends to return the school to community governance as soon as possible.
The school's problems date back to 2018 when a boy's parents complained the school didn't have a child protection policy - Bates says it now has one.
