The Christchurch rest home at the centre of 12 coronavirus deaths breached its obligations with the DHB around food, cleanliness and laundry services

The Christchurch rest home at the centre of 12 coronavirus deaths breached its obligations with the DHB around food, cleanliness and laundry services

Rosewood Rest home was overwhelmed by the coronavirus outbreak - which also infected staff.

Documents obtained by the Herald show Canterbury DHB took over Rosewood after concerns about its ability to cope during the pandemic.

A lack of available staff meant the facility breached contractual obligations in multiple areas..

It detailed an apparent lack of contact from Rosewood's owner exasperated health authorities - and the DHB couldn't confirm if it had the required emergency health plan.

More details are expected from the findings of a Ministry of Health review of all rest home clusters - due this week.
