A man who brutally raped and murdered his 75-year-old Invercargill neighbour in 1996 is being released from prison on Monday

51-year-old Justin Garthwaite has spent more than two decades behind bars for the crimes against pensioner Florence Bennett.
The Parole Board says Garthwaite's rehabilitation is "completed".
Garthwaite will be electronically monitored for three months and is banned from being in the South Island for five years.
