Ian Stead is to undertake 300 hours of community work for his fraudulent offending.
His company, Steadfast Civil Limited, advertised on their company website they were a licensed building practitioner - which was a false representation.
MBIE's Occupational Licensing Manager, Duncan Conner, says Stead's offending is one of the most serious dealt with to date.
He says Stead deceived the people who hired him without considering the impact it would have on homeowners, the council and the building industry.
