Plans to close one of Auckland's three dog shelters have animal welfare groups worried

The SPCA says budget cuts at Auckland Council could mean inadequate space for dogs picked up from the streets...and more of them being put down.
Chief executive Andrea Midgen says it's important the Council doesn't just look at cost savings.
The SPCA itself has a backlog of dogs needing new homes because vets haven't been able to do desexing procedures, during lockdown.
