A senior Dunedin police officer will keep his name secret, until his trial on domestic violence and firearms charges in August

The man's defence has also pushed for the existence of a hearing at Dunedin District Court to be suppressed, but that was denied.
The high-ranking officer is in his 40s.
He's charged with assaulting a woman with whom he was in a family relationship and having a 22 calibre semi-automatic rifle without a licence.
