Correspondence obtained by the NZ Herald has showed Waitemata DHB nurses who volunteered to help at Auckland's St Margaret's rest home - were extremely concerned for their safety.
They reported a lack of gowns and eye protection for when they had close contact with Covid-19 patients.
The Nurses Organisation's Kate Weston says the problem is widespread.
