There are renewed calls for KiwiRail to step in and save jobs at an iconic Dunedin railroad

It comes after the announcement the Christchurch to Greymouth TranzAlpine service will be reopened next week - after months of Covid-19 closure.
Keep Dunedin Rail Rolling spokesperson Dave Kearns says the Taieri Gorge Line - owned by Dunedin Railways - needs the same support.
He KiwiRail could take it over and save fifty jobs next week.
He says if KiwiRail takes over the route - it'd save fifty jobs next week.
Kearns says it's unusual for a small operator to own their own line - and a takeover could relieve a lot of pressure.
