An elderly man remains in intensive care with burns after being pulled from a burning flat In Dunedin's Port Chalmers

Fire crews called to three flats on Currie Street last night to find the fire ablaze, and extracted the man from the flat where the fire originated.

He's in a stable condition in Dunedin Hospital, but the extent of his burns is unclear.

Two other people have also been treated for smoke inhalation.

A fire investigator will be back on the scene this morning to examine the fire.
