Thirty-five-year-old Clutha-Southland MP, Hamish Walker, won't be going for re-election after sending the confidential details of Covid-19 patients to the media.
The National party leader says he felt incredibly supported when he started as an MP in 2014, when in his mid-40s.
But he says at times like this, parties need to check on younger MPs who have less life experience.
Muller says they need to make sure ongoing support is where it needs to be.
He says he would have thought Walker had a lot of support.
National has selected an 18-year-old to contest the Labour-held seat of Palmerston North.
