The 19-year-old entered the plea after Judge Stephen O'Driscoll issued a stern warning he wouldn't tolerate calling out or interrupting of the court.
Emotions were kept in check as family supporters comforted the sisters' father.
Tayla Alexander was killed in the crash on Christchurch's Summit Road last November, and her sister Sunmara died two weeks later - on her 16th birthday.
The teen driver remains on bail and was allowed continued name suppression until a crown case review on October 22.
