An advocacy group wants to see more support for workers impacted by Covid-19

An advocacy group wants to see more support for workers impacted by Covid-19

Stats NZ figures show unemployment dropped 0.2 per cent in the June quarter to four per cent.

Auckland Action Against Poverty spokesperson Brooke Fiafia says people may not be unemployed, but could still be working fewer hours due to Covid-19.

She says some benefits like the Job Seeker payment sit below the poverty line - and that won't help people who've faced major losses to their working hours.

Fiafia says abatement levels should be lifted to ensure people can pay for basics like food, housing, and transport.
