A teenager is due in court following a violent fight on Wellington's party strip

Police were called to a fight at the intersection of Courtenay Place and Taranaki Street around 3.30 Saturday morning

One person was seriously injured from an apparent stabbing, and nine people were arrested.

A 19-year-old is due to appear in the Wellington District Court today, charged with common assault.

Inspector Dion Bennett says nearly every weekend there's at least one serious incident on Courtenay Place, and in some cases it's lucky they're not dealing with fatalities.
