Traffic is backing up at Auckland's border despite attempts to stop delays

Traffic is backing up at Auckland's border despite attempts to stop delays

Freight trucks were stuck waiting for hours to pass checkpoints in and out of the region last Wednesday.

Police have introduced a stricter verification process and stricter checks for all vehicles since Sunday -- including trucks.

The Chief Executive of transport company Carr and Haslam, Chris Carr, says drivers have limited work hours.

He says if they run out of hours they have to stop, they might not get home and goods might not get delivered.
