Investigations are underway into how the case of a St Lukes mall worker is linked to the Auckland community outbreak, with the possibility they caught the virus while on a bus.
Otago University professor Michael Baker says breathing, talking, coughing, sneezing and singing are great ways to infect people close to you.
He says masks can prevent infectious droplets from being spread.
He says if someone in a public place is incubating the disease, they are far less likely to infect other people if wearing a mask.
