Queenstown ski areas have put on perfect snow conditions for Aucklanders heading south over the next few days to reward themselves for more than two weeks in lockdown

Queenstown ski areas have put on perfect snow conditions for Aucklanders heading south over the next few days to reward themselves for more than two weeks in lockdown

Flights to the tourist town are fully booked next week in anticipation of alert level 3 restrictions lifting at midnight.

Coronet Peak area manager Nigel Kerr says they're ready with the red carpet to greet Auckland skiers.

He says the ski area will turn it on for visitors with magical snow cover at the moment.

Kerr says Aucklanders came in their droves the last school holidays and ski areas are feeling much better about the tourist-free season.
