The South Island's roads will be risky today - but even more dangerous tomorrow

A wintry blast has hit much of the island - with snow expected down to 100 metres on the Canterbury plains.
NZTA has road snow warnings in place for almost all of the major passes.
Journey Manager Tresca Forrester says with snowfall set to continue throughout much of the day - drivers will need to take extra care.
She says this goes for tomorrow morning too - because they expect a lot of ice will be left behind.
