New speed limits take effect today on Auckland's State Highway 16 from Brigham Creek to Waimauku

The changes are aimed at preventing people from being killed or seriously injured on this road, and come after extensive public consultation.
NZTA says over the last ten years there were 449 crashes on this stretch of road - with seven people killed and 57 seriously injured.
The stretch has varying speed limits ranging from 60km an hour to 100km an hour - with the majority of them being dropped by 10 kilometres an hour.
