    Rimutaka Prison has intercepted a significant stash of of contraband before it reached inmates


    A search of a delivery vehicle last Thursday uncovered 1.5 grams of meth, 30 LSD tabs, 200 grams of tobacco, more than 50 grams of cannabis, and 10 cellphones.

    Prison Director Viv Whelan says some prisoners will go to extreme and elaborate lengths to smuggle contraband.

    Police are investigating.
