Most of New Zealand now lives in the Upper North Island

New Stats NZ figures show the population had almost reached 5.1 million by the end of June.
About 54 percent live in Northland, Auckland, Waikato and Bay of Plenty, and those areas continue to grow faster than the rest of the country.
Over the past six years, Auckland's growth has matched the entire populations of Dunedin and Invercargill.
The West Coast is the only region whose population in decline.
