A Fire and Emergency spokesperson says it will be a challenging day for crews at Lake Ohau as heavy winds up to 160 kilometres per hour continue to lash the blaze.
Around 40 houses have been destroyed in the fire which has burned close to five thousand hectares since starting in the early hours of Sunday morning.
As a result of high winds, FENZ says no helicopters will be fighting fires today.
