People trying to get on the property ladder are being left in the dust by soaring house prices

The median's risen by 15 percent to a record-high 685 thousand dollars, compared with September last year.
ASB senior economist Mike Jones says the minimum deposit for first home buyers is rising more or less daily.
He says one consolation is the low interest rates, which are expected to fall even further.
Jones says there's a scramble for houses because supply's outstripping demand.
