Timothee Chalamet was left "embarrassed" when photos of himself kissing then-girlfriend Lily-Rose Depp were published online

The 'King' co-stars were vacationing in Capri, Italy, last summer after promoting the film when they were photographed by paparazzi making out on the deck of a boat, and the 24-year-old actor admitted he was horrified to realise one of the "best days of [his] life" had been written off as a publicity stunt

He told America's GQ magazine: "I went to bed that night thinking that was one of the best days of my life.

"I was on this boat all day with someone I really loved, and closing my eyes, I was like, indisputably, ‘That was great.’ And then waking up to all these pictures, and feeling embarrassed, and looking like a real nob? All pale?

"And then people are like, This is a P.R. stunt. A P.R. stunt?! Do you think I'd want to look like that in front of all of you?!"

The 'Dune' actor - who split from Lily-Rose earlier this year - became a household name overnight in 2017 thanks to his Oscar-nominated performance in 'Call Me By Your Name' but he admitted he was grateful to still be able to lead a normal life out of the spotlight with his friends as he thinks he'd have become a "psychopath" if he'd realised the true extent of his fame at the time.

He said: "My world had flipped. But if I kicked it with my friends, things could still feel the same. I was trying to marry these two realities. But I don't even think I knew that was what I was doing.

"That dissonance was real. And thank God. Because I feel like if I'd caught up to it immediately, I would've been a psychopath or something.”
