Two fire crews are tackling a grass fire at the Banks Peninsula township of Little River

Fire and Emergency is responding to the fire on Okuti Valley Road, after receiving calls at about 11am.

A spokesman says it's too early to tell - but at this stage it's not expected to be a large fire.

A Rangiora crew is also heading out to the Loburn-Ashley area after reports of smoke.
