New Zealand A are lamenting an inability to adapt to the Silver Ferns' changes in their opening game of netball's Cadbury Series in Palmerston North

The world champions won 59-44, winning all four quarters and using 12 players.

New Zealand A defender Erena Mikaere says they didn't keep up with the different combinations presented.

The men's team has beaten the under- 21's 77-43.
