    People need a prescription for codeine-containing medicines from next month


    The Medicines Classification Committee recommended the change after consultation and feedback last year.

    Chair Andi Shirtcliffe says it means people must get professional advice on pain meds.

    Codeine-only products are already prescription medicines in New Zealand.
