Police will review the drowning of a Gore toddler, following claims by the boy's father there may have been foul play

The body of three-year-old Lachlan Jones was found in one of the Southland town's sewage oxidation ponds last January.

His father, Paul Jones, told the Otago Daily Times he believes the investigation into his son's death was superficial and had jumped to conclusions unsupported by the evidence.

He now believes his son was carried to the ponds by someone.

Paul Jones says police didn't conduct a full forensic scene examination, and ignored what seemed to be contradictory post-mortem and witness evidence.
