Kelly Clarkson doesn’t understand people who only “show you they care in front of people”

The 38-year-old singer has said she can’t understand why some people put on a show with their romance whilst in public, but don’t show that same kind of love to their partner behind closed doors

Kelly was giving dating advice to a fan on an episode of ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ on Friday (23.10.20), who said her crush only ever talks to her on Instagram, and won’t send her texts.

The fan said: “My crush only uses Instagram to message me and he sends me heart eyes emojis. He hasn’t asked for my number. How do I convince him to take our relationship to the next level and actually text?”

And Kelly didn’t hold back when she suggested the crush might not be into her, as she replied: “I don’t understand why you would want to be with someone that only does it in front of people, that’s my thing. Like, if they’re only going to show you they care in front of people. You need to know what’s happening behind closed doors, not in front of the doors because that’s who you’re going to be with.

“And it kind of looks a little like ‘He’s Just Not That Into You’, that book. I don’t know, just a little, and that’s okay because we’ve all been there. It’s not just you.”

Kelly’s comments come after she recently filed for divorce from her estranged husband Brandon Blackstock, with whom she has daughter River Rose, six, and son Remington Alexander, four.

And the ‘Piece by Piece’ singer recently claimed divorce is a “s***** thing”, after seeing multiple family members go through the process before enduring a marriage split herself.

She explained: “I've been through two divorces in my family, husband as well in his own family as a child. We didn't have social media around when that happened.

"And, like, having kids that run the gambit of four to 19 is a really tough thing. And, you know, I've had conversations with one of our eldest about how difficult it is in the public eye when your parents are so ... you know, one of them is so prominent and having to navigate that for them is hard on their hearts.

"I'm just careful also while being real ... And I don't think that anything is - like I said - nothing's wrong with anybody, it's just ... it happens, and that's why there's nothing to hide about it in that sense. You know, it's just, divorce is a really s***** thing."
