New Zealand has exported far more than it's imported during the Covid 19 pandemic

Stats NZ says New Zealand had a 1.7 billion dollar annual goods trade surplus in the year to September.
Imports fell 5.9 billion, with a sharp drop in fuel and car imports.
A similar fall happened during the global financial crisis more than a decade ago.
During that crisis, exports also dropped, but this time around, exports have held up very well.
