Ulrika Jonsson's dog has started treatment for his leukaemia
The 53-year-old television presenter's pet pooch Leo is battling Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia and Ulrika has admitted her emotions are "loaded" and she "began to lose her nerve" when she had to administer his medication

Taking to Instagram, she wrote alongside a photo of his medication: "Today my boy Leo started chemo ... I’ve known it was coming but disassociated for various reasons. Here are some: Leo is 3. I already lost Dexter at the age of 4 - the treatment that was supposed to save him, effectively killed him. I can’t bear the thought of this s*** show. I know someone out there is suffering considerably worse shows of s***. But what are the chances that I face losing a second? Boy. My emotions are loaded. Weirdly woke up this morning in a good mood. When does that happen? And then when it came to administering the stuff, I was welling up; began to lose my nerve; questioned everything. Please don’t feel the need to comment - I know you guys care. I don’t want empathy. I want a cure. But I know there isn’t one for him and at some point a shit decision will need to be made. For now. Leo, my darling boy: love; good food and CBD will be at your disposal. #leukaemia #cancerisa**** (sic)"
Meanwhile, Ulrika previously shared her devastation at watching her dog suffer with dementia.
She adopted Fella the bulldog last year and admitted she was heartbroken to find that the animal suffered from the syndrome, which causes a deterioration in memory, thinking, behaviour and the ability to perform everyday activities.
She explained: "Over time, I've learnt that he has dementia. He looks at me without recognition sometimes. Sits and stares at doors or barks at walls unprovoked. On walks, he can forget what is happening, and just stops, or turns around and insists on going in the opposite direction. He doesn't always respond to my name - but still knows what a T-R-E-A-T is."
