In January, passenger service Te Huia is offering a one-off overnight charter service from Frankton to Auckland's CBD and back.
There are two hundred seats available, starting at two hundred and 48 per person for a twin share - which will include accommodation, breakfast and tourist attractions.
Waikato Regional Council chair Russ Rimmington says the service signals a renaissance of rail in the Waikato region.
The date for Te Huia's passenger service will be decided next month, but is expected to be in February after track upgrades.
