Dame Helen Mirren isn’t worried about looking “old”

The 75-year-old actress has insisted she has no intention of ever having a cosmetic procedure to make herself look more youthful, as she feels “just fine” how she is, and is happy with her body

Helen also insisted she’d love to see more people “accept who [they] are” no matter what their age.

Speaking to Candis magazine, she said: “I’m old! And I look it. And that’s just fine.

“People talk about ‘ageing gracefully’ and I don’t know what that means.

“We seem to have got to a point where it means not having plastic surgery, though I should have thought there’d be more to it than that. To me it’s more about accepting who you are and what you are and going with it.

“Obviously I try to look as nice as I can – and I’d love to look 20 years younger. But I don’t and I never will.”

Meanwhile, the ‘Queen’ actress previously said she doesn’t agree with those who say she’s a “sex symbol”, but also doesn’t care what other people think of her.

She said: "I don't agree that I'm a sex symbol. The great thing about getting older is that you get over all that. You tend to think, 'Sex symbol? What the f**k does that mean?' There are so many other interesting things to be driven by. It's great and I'm not knocking it - it's a fabulous part of life - but it's only a part, it's not everything. So I'll take it, I'm not going to argue with it. But I'm not going to pay attention either.”

And Helen also admitted she was never confident about her looks when she was younger.

The ‘Red’ star explained: "Because of the way I was born, I fell into a rather 50s understanding of sexy, which I found so annoying and embarrassing and mortifying and humiliating, it just wasn't ever my taste.

"I wanted to be, you know, a skinny girl in black with a Gitane cigarette - and physically, I just wasn't. I had to deal with what I had been given genetically, but, at the same time, not allow it to ruin my life.

"History doesn't really want women to be successful. And, if they are, they have to have gotten their success through sex basically."
