The Covid 19 border restrictions have a silver lining for consumers -- in the form of cheaper strawberries

Strawberry prices have plummeted 43 percent in the past month due to reduced exports overseas.
Stats NZ says soaring air freight costs since the closure of borders has made exporting products much more expensive.
It says a shortage of international workers in the fruit picking industry has also meant growers can't pick their fields fast enough, meaning many berries are too ripe for exporting.
Consumer prices manager Katrina Dewbery says prices may be get even cheaper this month, in the lead up to Christmas.
