All Blacks sevens coach Clark Laidlaw remains hopeful Caleb Clarke will available to don the black jersey at next year's Tokyo Olympic Games

Clarke has played for the national Sevens side since 2018.

In 2020 he emerged as arguably New Zealand rugby's most exciting young talent, with a number of highlight performances for the All Blacks.

Laidlaw says Clarke has always enjoyed his time in the Sevens program.

The Olympics are set to begin on July 23, which could overlap with All Blacks fixtures.

They open their test season in July for three matches before competing in the Rugby Championship.
