5 January 2021
He's been charged with use of a firearm against a law enforcement officer, unlawfully carrying a firearm and aggravated robbery.
Police say the incident began around 5.30pm, with the driver failing to stop for Police in Foxton, and firing a shot towards an officer.
They say he then abandoned that vehicle and stole another, heading towards Feilding.
He was successfully stopped on Kimbolton Road after Police deployed spikes.
The man's then alleged to have shot at Police again before crashing into a stationary patrol car.
He was taken to Palmerston North Hospital in a serious condition.
