Half of New Zealand's cats are starting to look like Garfield

A recent study by the pet nutrition brand, Royal Canin, has found one in two cats and dogs are considered overweight.
Just 20 per cent of owners always measure how much food they give their pets.
The New Zealand Veterinary Association's Helen Beattie says obesity is one of the two most common diseases seen in small animal clinics.
She says a normal dog or cat actually looks quite lean -- but a lot of people don't know that, and that's one reason why we're seeing more chubby animals.
