Vaping could cause health problems in the long term

Vaping could cause health problems in the long term

An advanced study has been launched to get a precise look at what it does to our lungs -- using human trials and 3D computer models.

Vaping devices work by using heat to turn a liquid into a fine spray that's then inhaled and puffed out -- and are typically used to quit smoking.

Researcher Kelly Burrowes from Auckland University says they've only been easily available for about 10 years.

She says no-one usually dies after smoking one cigarette, as it normally takes 20 years to see the damaging effects -- so we still don't know what the chemicals in vapes will do.
