The 2021 SAG Awards have been moved to April 4 after the Grammy Awards were rescheduled to the same date as their ceremony

SAG-AFTRA - who stage the annual Screen Actors Guild honours, which recognise excellence in TV and film performance - have announced their annual awards ceremony has been pushed back almost a month from its previously scheduled date of March 14, after a scheduling conflict with the 2021 Grammy Awards

Variety confirmed the show’s new date on Wednesday (13.01.21), which comes after SAG Award bosses recently said they were “extremely disappointed” to hear that Grammy Award bosses had booked their award ceremony for the same date.

In a statement, they said: "We are extremely disappointed to hear of the conflicting date, March 14th, announced today for this year’s Grammy Awards telecast.

“We announced the same date for the SAG Awards last July with the intent to give the greatest possible scheduling consideration for other awards shows. We expect the same consideration from sister organisations throughout the industry.”

The SAG Awards were originally set to take place in January, but bosses decided back in July to moved the date to March 14 because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

ex ecutives at the Recording Academy – who host the Grammys, which honour music talent – also faced the same predicament with their ceremony, but didn’t announce plans to move the award show until earlier this month.

The 2021 SAG Awards will now take place on April 4, and will be broadcast on TNT and TBS, whilst the 2021 Grammy Awards will be hosted from the Staples Centre in Los Angeles on March 14.
