15 January 2021
Spuds climbed to $2..51 cents per kilo during April, tomatoes hit $13..65 in August and courgettes rose to $29.60 in July.
Stat NZ's Katrina Dewbery says this helped drive up food price inflation to nearly 3 percent, but tomatoes are now much cheaper.
They've fallen to a seasonal price of $3.33 and spuds are at $2.41 a kilo.
