Hopes the re-opening of a rail line will result in fewer deaths on our roads

Hopes the re-opening of a rail line will result in fewer deaths on our roads

The line between Whangarei and Swanson in West Auckland has been revamped, and trains will begin moving a backlog of containers on Friday.

Most of the thousand containers being unloaded at Northport, were going to be transported back to Auckland using trucks.

Kiwirail Chief Executive Greg Miller says the rail will take big trucks off the road while families are travelling over the holiday period.
