A financial expert says interest rates will rise, but not as quickly as some might hope

Economic research consultancy Capital Economics predicts New Zealand will be the first in the Covid-19 era to put interest rates back up.

But former Reserve Bank economist Michael Reddell says if anything, interest rates will only fall in the coming year.

He says beyond that interest rates will rise - but it's impossible to say what's going to happen to the world economy before then.
