A shark was spotted in ankle-deep water at Matata Beach in the Bay of Plenty yesterday, and a 19-year-old died after a shark attack in the district last month.
In Auckland, sharks were spotted at two beaches for the second day running.
Shark scientist Riley Elliott says we're seeing more sharks because it's summertime so more people are going to the beach.
He says more people are on the water and have boats because of Covid lockdowns.
