The man shot by Police in Auckland's Papatoetoe last night, who later died, has been named as 34-year-old Tangaru-Noere Turia

The man shot by Police in Auckland's Papatoetoe last night, who later died, has been named as 34-year-old Tangaru-Noere Turia

Police say he fired at a neighbour's window before a stand-off.

The armed offenders squad and Eagle helicopter responded and cordons were activated in the south Auckland neighbourhood.

Police say negotiations failed to resolve the situation and Turia emerged unexpectedly from his Avis Avenue home armed with a gun, before he was shot.
