The 13 parties facing charges in relation to the Whakaari White Island eruption can now be named

The 13 parties facing charges in relation to the Whakaari White Island eruption can now be named

They're White Island Tours, Whakaari Management Limited and directors, James, Peter and Andrew Buttle, Kahu NZ, GNS Science, The National Emergency Management Agency, Volcanic Air Safaris, Aerius Limited, Inflite Charters, ID Tours and Tauranga Tourism Services.

Lawyers representing the 10 organisations and three individuals appeared in the Auckland District Court this morning.

Because of Auckland's Alert Level Three status - several appeared via video call.

The judge opened the hearing by acknowledging those who lost their lives in the eruption - and the communities affected here and overseas.

The next hearing will be in Whakatane District Court in June.
