The New Zealand Education Institute is urging the Government to fulfill its pre-election commitments toward pay parity in the sector.
Education Ministry data shows early childhood educators earn an average of 16-thousand dollars less than primary school teachers.
NZEI President Liam Rutherford says they want to acknowledge their hard work, especially during the pandemic.
He says they need to highlight the urgent need for childhood educators to be recognised with pay which reflects the value they bring.
