Police have brought on more staff, to get through a backlog of firearms licence applications

Police have brought on more staff, to get through a backlog of firearms licence applications

The Council of Licenced Firearms Owners claims hunters could miss out on this year's duck hunting season, due to the backlog from the Covid-19 pandemic.

But Police say online reminders were sent out to people to renew their licence well ahead of time.

They say they're working hard to clear the backlog before duck season starts in May.

Police say anyone without an up to date licence can still take part if accompanied by and under the immediate supervision of a current licence holder.
