Emergency services have descended on Auckland's Viaduct Harbour -- following reports of gunfire

A member of the public reported hearing shots outside the Sofitel Hotel this morning.

Staff inside were reported to be taking cover as the incident unfolded.

Police say there are no reports of injuries, but armed officers were called in as a precaution, and enquiries are continuing.

St John say an ambulance and rapid response unit were called to the scene.
