Paymark's released its holiday figures, with a comparison to 2019 - because last year fell on lockdown.
Southland was down two percent on Easter 2019 - and Otago spending down 6.5 percent.
Paymark spokesman Paul Brislen says it was a different story for the North Island.
He says Eftpos transactions in the North Island were back to pre-Covid levels, up more than six percent.
